The Prophet Muhammad always prayed to Allah SWT to find something that could enlighten him and his people. This is due to the moral collapse that was very worrying happened in Mecca at that time. Until the time came when the Prophet Muhammad was alone in the Cave of Hira one night in the month of Ramadan. He was shocked by the turtle of the first revelation from Allah SWT. As the following hadith:
From Aisyah Ummul Mukminin radliyallahu 'anha, he said: "The beginning of the revelations received by the Messenger of Allah was ar-ru'ya ash-shalihah (a good dream) in sleep. Usually the dream he saw was clearly like the morning weather. Then he became happy to be alone. then he stayed alone in the cave of Hira to survive. He survived, which was to worship there a few nights, and did not return to his wife's house, and for that he brought provisions, then he returned to Khadijah, and underneath also provisions for those needs, so he came to him Al-Haqq (truth, revelation) when he was in the cave of Hira, so he came to him an angel and said, "Read it!" He replied, "I cannot read." The Prophet said, "Then the angel pulled me and hugged me so tight that I exhausted. Then he released me and said again, "Read!" And I answered, "I can't read." I then pulled and hugged her back tightly until my energy was used up. While releasing me, he said again, "Read it!" I replied again, "I can't read." Then for the third time he pulled and hugged me as hard as he could, then releasing me he said,
"Iqra` bismi rabbikallażī khalaq. Khalaqal-insāna min 'alaq. Iqra` wa rabbukal-akram. Allażī' Allama bil-qalam. 'Allamal-insāna ma lam ya'lam."
Which means: (1) Read in the name of your Lord Who Created; (2) He created man from a clot of blood; (3) Read, and your Lord is the most gracious; (4) Those who teach (humans) by the delivery of the qalam (pen); (5) He teaches man what he does not know. (Qur'an, 96: 1-5)
After that, the Prophet Muhammad SAW fearfully returned home and found his wife Khadijah bint Khuwailid. Then Khadija brought the Prophet Muhammad to meet Waraqah, Khadijah's uncle's son. Waraqah said that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) had met the Angel Gabriel who had been sent by Allah to the Prophet Musa.
